5- LiFi- the future of internet

We live in the society exquisitely reliable on science and technology, where hardly anyone knows about "science and technology". The society today is mostly dependent on or prefers the internet for most of the works, may it be sending the birthday wishes, morning messages, invitations, important work files and many more. Nearly, everything is being done on the internet. Wi-Fi or mobile data consumption has increased a lot in recent years for the various works.

What is Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is a technology for wireless local area network with devices based on the IEEE 802.11 standards. It uses the radio waves which can prove harmful to us in some cases. Even it posses high speed and secure connection as compared to mobile data, it cannot be trusted anymore because of its inability to stop the hackers from hacking the passwords and desecrate it.

To overcome this defect, Li-Fi technology was introduced. Li-Fi is a technology for wireless communication between devices using LIGHT to transmit data. It was first introduced by Harald Haas at 2011 TED Global talk in Edinburgh.

Li-Fi is a visible light communications system that is capable of transmitting data at high speeds over the visible light spectrum, ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
Like you connect the electronics device to the Wi-Fi modem, the device will itself connect itself to the internet when the wavelength of the receiver device match the transmitter device.

Just imagine a person standing under a light source, doing some work and experiencing great internet speed. Therefore elucidating the impression that workload can be handled with more efficiency. The files can be downloaded and uploaded within the fraction of seconds. Most of the effects and drawbacks of Wi-Fi can be resolved by the Li-Fi and the secure connection can be maintained. The ill effects of radio waves can be minimized.

One of my friends made a project on Li-Fi and successfully sent some random data. He even made some advancements so as to make it more secure thereby making a strong connection before the electronic device and having the safer surfing. The technology was a new exposure to us from the knowledge point of view and gave us ideas to create further advancement in accessing the secure internet and creating something that can prove a milestone for mankind. Every once in a while, a new technology, an old problem, and a big idea turn into an innovation.

Li-Fi requires three basic hardware devices to function. These include:
(i) an LED lighting system(Smart lighting system)
(ii) a router (which will be installed along with the lighting system)
(iii) a receiver equipped with decoder (in order to decrypt the light signal) which would be connected to the devices in the coming years.

The difference between Wi-Fi and Li-Fi is as mentioned:

Wi-Fi will be replaced later by Li-Fi just because the only constant in the technology industry is change and the change that is economical, efficient and profitable will sustain for the longest time.

Li-Fi has not been introduced in India because of its cost and maintaining it to keep in working condition. Once the cost becomes effective, becomes relevant enough to use easily and proves great surfing speed, people will fall for it just like they did for Reliance Jio.
Edward Teller once said" The science of today is the technology of tomorrow", but lesser is known that technology of today is the history of tomorrow.

19. Impact of COVID-19 on Technology and Cyber Security.

The world is experiencing the economic breakdown and is trying to cope up with basic amenities required for the people to survive. The COVID-19 has even challenged the economy and is affecting all the sectors. Lockdown has proved to be a solution to stop the virus transmission but is affecting the industry. But what are its impacts on technology?  The effects of COVID-19 are having a significant impact on the technology sector, affecting raw materials supply, disrupting the electronics value chain, and causing an inflationary risk on products. More positively, the disruption has caused an acceleration of remote working, and a rapid focus on evaluating and de-risking the end-to-end value chain. In addition, potential carbon emission reductions could result in renewed focus on sustainability practices. This article considers the shifting landscape across a number of areas. The main impact will be on the cybersecurity and even on supply chain. As due to this pandemic s...

17- QR code vs SnapTag

Are you tired of seeing those ugly black and white square blots everywhere you look? Well now there is a solution; SnapTags.  SnapTags are raising the bar for interactive communication. SnapTags work like QR codes but give you much more. Instead of using a 2-D barcode, you now are able to use your very own logo that’s much more visually appealing to the consumer. This branding tool is extremely powerful for initiating consumer engagement at which the consumer is likely triggered by an emotional response. QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached. SnapTag provides trackable, device-aware, fully programmable QR codes that can deliver the best experience in any situation, for everyone. How is the look of snaptag? Well, here it is! Sample model This look is the basic snaptag model of this blog. This tag can be...

18- Basics of Telecommunication

Ever wondered what actually is Telecom? What are its components? How they work? Read below for the same. What is Telecom? Telecommunications ("telecom") is a general term for a vast array of technologies that transmit and receive voice, data, and video information over varying distances through electronic means. The utilization of these networks and technologies varies greatly from organization to organization and may include:     Local, long distance, and toll-free voice traffic     Internet access     Video conferencing     LAN's and WAN's     Call centres     Converged networks (voice, data, wireless) How do mobile phones work? Mobile phones operate within a network based on services which are provided by Telecommunications Service Providers (TSPs). In short, mobile phones search for signals in order to operate. This is enabled through cell towers, which are cellular telephone sites w...
